How to Protect yourself
from MEGA files received by email.
Sometime you can't do anything about it, your friend
sends you one MEGA file and you're forced to receive
it, you want to call your ISP but nobody is there, so
what can you do ?
Every
mail program can be configured to send and receive
messages, you can set a quote on the message size in
order to prevent your program from receiving those nasty
Mega files, you can even clean your mailbox without
bothering your ISP .
OUTLOOK EXPRESS
You can use the INBOX ASSISTANT to manage the
messages inside
your mailbox on the server and set your program not to
download messages above a certain size or even delete
them off the server, without involving your ISP.
Launch OUTLOOK EXPRESS select TOOLS then INBOX
ASSISTANT
click ADD.
if you have multiple accounts you will have to choose an
account or leave blank to apply settings for all.
Choose a size above which you should perform the task,
you have the option to delete the message or leave it on
the server.
In the perform the Following
action select an option - note that the Inbox
Assistant has several uses like monitoring your child's
email by setting the program to duplicate the message and
sent it to you.
One good thing is that you can send a message to whomever
sends you a big message so he or she doesn't do it again.
Write a message like "This Time you got away, Next
Time..."
or "Your huge message has been deleted before its
arrival, make sure you don't send such a message again".
NETSCAPE
MESSENGER
Launch Messenger or Communicator, click EDIT, PREFERENCES
select ADVANCED DISK SPACE check
"Do not Download any message larger than"
