Backing up your email messages

Always backup your files.
Many think that one cannot backup email messages, or don't know how,
so they use the good old trick: print all messages...
Here's how you can backup your emails in
OUTLOOK EXPRESS
Normally messages are stored at
C:\WINDOWS\Application Data\Microsoft\Outlook Express\Mail
If you did not find the location, try searching for
MBX files, press F3 and type *.mbx
In OUTLOOK EXPRESS you have 2 files for each folder in your mail program e.g INBOX has
Inbox.mbx and Inbox.idx
If you want to backup all messages (INBOX, SENT ITEMS....)
just SELECT ALL, use a compression utility like PKWARE or WINZIP to compress all the files and place them in a safe place...
It's better to save on floppies (if it fits) or on a Jazz drive, or even use another
Hard Drive. Normally you can reduce size by 70%.
If you receive lots of messages, do a backup every month.
if you use
NETSCAPE MESSENGER files are stored at
C:\Program Files\Netscape\Users\default\Mail (default is the user folder)
Inbox and Inbox.snm related to INBOX
If you use another mail program just search for anything called inbox type inbox*.*
