Change File Association
Every
file on the computer is associated with a program or
application.
For example if you click on a .DOC file (Word file),
Microsoft Word launches...
What if you want another program to handle all DOC file.
Using the Open With... command you can easily change the
file association.
By default NotePad takes care of all .txt files. If you
want to open your text file with WordPad (another Windows
text program), just select it, hold SHIFT then
right-click, choose Open With... from the menu, scroll
down and select WordPad.
NOTE: Check "Always
use this program to open this type of file" if you want
WordPad to always open text files. This tip is very
useful is you have installed two programs that open the
same file types. If you're running Photoshop of
Photopaint on your computer you can decide which program
you want to use to open .jpg images...
