| Forgot your LOGON
password Did you ever forget your logon password and don't know what to do. Don't call anyone... Access windows as you normally do, on the login prompt press CANCEL now go to DOS (MS-DOS prompt) or select RUN from Start menu and type command. Switch to c:\windows type the following, and press enter after each command: cd\ windows then dir *.pwl delete the file related to your username. e.g If your login username is "myname" you should delete myname.pwl del myname.pwl After Restart you will be asked for a new username and password. What you did is deleted the password (PWL) file, Windows did no find any passwords so it asked for one (password) to create a fresh new file. |
